Cape Verde Language: Creole and Portuguese

The people in Cape Verde are a mixture of African and European with approximately 70 percent of the population being mixed race.Portuguese is the official language of Cape Verde. Portuguese is used for legal matters, in the media, at public offices, in churches, and in school. However, Creole tends to be used on a day to day basis. Creole is based on African-European Creole languages. Even this differs from island to island. Creole is the native language of Cape Verdean people, and it is used as a second language by their country. Creole has different dialects that have been spoken in different island of Cape Verde.Their language reflects the incredible variety of the people which generated through centuries of migration that take place in their country.
